In this pristine semi arid region, where massive dunes crash into the south Atlantic, sails dominate the landscape. Historically, fishermen here in northeast Brazil seldom colored their sails. When they did, it was by submitting it to a process called 'limar'; they were soaked in green lime, fish blood and sea water and exposed to the night dew.
